About RSS Feeds
Nixon RSS Feed Information
RSS Feeds is a technology in common use on the Internet that automatically notifies you when there are updates to a website--in this case--the Nixon Gazette. Anyone who uses an "RSS Reader" program can take advantage of this feature to be notified automatically whenever Thursday Notices are updated.
You may already be using an RSS Reader program and not know it. The most common RSS Readers are also used as "home pages" or "my pages" on the Internet:
There are many other RSS tools available, but these are the most common that do not require additional software to be installed on your computer. Typically, these programs are used as an Internet home page and can contain news, sports scores, stock quotes and updates from any web site or blog you desire (including Thursday Notices).
If you would like to make use of this feature, make sure you're signed up for an RSS Reader program (you can use the links of the three above to sign up for one of those). Then follow these steps:
My Yahoo
Make sure you've set up your My Yahoo home
page. Then click this button:

Personalized Google
Make sure you've set up your personalized Google home page (instructions). Then follow these instructions to add the Thursday Notices to the page. The instructions assume you use Internet Explorer or AOL to browse the Internet.
- Right click this icon
and choose Copy Link Location. This puts the feed address
onto your Cut/Paste clipboard.
- Go to your Google Home Page and click "Add Content" in the upper
left corner of the page.
- Find the entry box under Create a Section. Right click in the box and choose Paste from the menu the pops up. Confirm by clicking the OK, Apply or Go button provided.
My AOL
If you are an AOL member, you can access your home page by logging into www.aol.com,
then clicking the "MyAOL" tab at the top of the page. You can add
Nixon Thursday Notices to that page by clicking this button:

To Add Content to Your RSS Reader/Home Page:
Once you have your RSS Reader or Home Page set up, the following steps are more general instructions you can use with any RSS Reader system. These instructions are specific to the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.
- Find the RSS or XML icon on the website you'd like to use. For us, this
is easy. Here it is:

- Right click the icon and choose Copy Link Location. This
puts the feed address onto your Cut/Paste clipboard.
- Go to your RSS Reader and choose to add a feed. Every RSS Reader has a different
way of doing this. Even though we've provided shortcuts above for some of
these, here is the manual method for the most common sites:
- My Yahoo: Click "Add Content" at the top left of the page, then click "Add RSS by URL" to the right of the FIND button.
- Google: Click "Add Content" on the upper left corner of the page.
- My AOL: Click "Add a Feed" in the "My Feeds" box
on the left menu.
- Right click in the content or URL box provided by your reader, and choose Paste from the menu the pops up. Confirm by clicking the OK, Apply or Go button provided.
