Please Help Us Control The Incidence Of Sickness At Nixon By Observing The Following Policies:
This notice is to remind parents that we have students at Nixon with very serious, life threatening food allergies and/or food restrictions. Several students do not need to ingest the particular food, but only come in contact with the food in order to have a severe and potentially fatal reaction. There are other serious food restrictions apart from food allergies, as well, that can have negative effects on a child's health.
With Valentine's Day arriving at the end of the week, please do not allow your child to independently share food treats with their peers either in the classroom or on the bus.
Quick
review of hand washing:
Please set a good example at home and encourage your child to wash their hands. Of course, I do want to stress that even with these extra efforts, children will get ill. If your child has a bad cold and is sneezing and coughing alot, please do your part to keep the germs from spreading in the classroom: keep them at home until their symptoms diminish.
In addition to encouraging your children to wash their hands, remind them not to rub their noses and eyes, which is a good portal for viruses to enter the body.
During
these days of much colder weather please make sure your children are
dressed appropriately for recess. Hats, gloves and winter coats are a must!
Once the snow starts flying please have your children bring boots and snow pants.
Yes, they will tell you that "no one brings them" or "we won't go out today."
However, weather permitting all students go out for fresh air and recess. When
there is snow on the ground, the children who are not dressed appropriately
will have to stay on the blacktop instead of playing with their friends.
