Important Reminder - Procedure of Reporting a Student's Absence

A "call-in---call-back" system regarding student absences is used in the Sudbury Public Schools.  To ensure the safety of your child, we ask your cooperation in following the outlined procedure below:

Sending a note to the Classroom Teacher is not the procedure for reporting a student's absence.

1.  In the event your child will be absent from school, you MUST call the school at (978) 443-1080, press 1 and leave a message no later than 9:00 AM.  This telephone line is available 24 hours a day.

2.  Phone call messages will be cross-checked with the teacher's absentee reports when the daily attendance has been received in the office.  For any absent student without a phone message, a call will be placed to the parents, either at home or at work, to verify the absence.  In the event that the school cannot speak directly with a parent to confirm the absence, the Sudbury Police will be notified.  In the case of METCO students, the METCO Director will be notified.
