How to sign up and perform at
All School Meeting
(steps suggested by 5th graders 9/22/06)
1. Decide what you would like to do & whether you will do it alone or with others
- Suggestions: a skit, song, playing an instrument, reciting a poem, dancing, reading some of your writing, a cheer, a rap, demonstrating something like martial arts
2. Practice it at home and ask your parents for suggestions to improve it.
- (Parents, please ensure that lyrics, costumes, and props are appropriate for school. You may need to practice it some more or take suggestions to improve it. )
3. Ask your teacher when you can show it to him or her.
- (You may need to practice it some more or take suggestions to improve it. When your teacher thinks you are ready he/she will give you a permission slip.)
4. Take you permission slip and sign up in the “Blue Book” in the Rotunda on Mondays or Tuesdays between 9-9:15.
5. Miss. Whiteley will call you down for rehearsal on Wednesday morning.
Be sure to bring your music, instrument, or any props you need.
If Miss. Whiteley thinks you are ready, she will give you a piece of paper for your parents telling them you will perform on Friday. You may invite your parents/family to attend.
6. Come to the cafeteria at 2:15 on Friday. Sit on the steps and wait quietly.
Be sure to bring your music, instrument, or any props you need.
Tell the stage crew if you need anything moved on the stage.
7. When it is your turn, perform! Face the audience & speak so that everyone can hear.
8. When you are finished, bow, and say “thank you!”
9. Sit back on the steps quietly, and go back to class with your teacher after meeting.
Parents: we would love to have you attend if your child performs. Please choose a seat other than those designated for staff as they need to be near students. Please be aware that the school tradition & expectation is for silence from the entry of the students through their exit.
