PTO Meeting Minutes
June 29th, 2007

The meeting was called to order at 9:20am.
17 people signed the attendance sheet.

Proposed ActivBoard Purchase
An incentive program of Sudbury Public School district was explained. If a PTOs purchases any ActivBoards by the end of the SPS fiscal year (6/30/07), the district will match the purchase. Nixon currently has one ActivBoard in Mrs. Abdal-Khabir’s fifth grade classroom. Based on discussions with the principal, the PTO would like to purchase ActivBoards to allow each fifth grade classroom to have a board. This would require three additional boards, 1 ½ to be purchased by PTO and 1 ½ to be purchased by SPS. Cost to the Nixon PTO would be approximately $7,500. According to district, teacher training is included with purchase and boards would be ready for the start of school in September. David Block explained the benefits to having an entire grade-level using the boards, included shared lessons and other synergies. He also explained that the boards are a top district technology priority. Mrs. A-K’s experience with the board has been very successful and the board was well integrated into the class in the first year. Loring, Noyes and Curtis PTO have recently voted to purchase boards under this matching program.

The purchase of the boards was unanimously approved.
