Treasurer’s Report
The major fundraisers have been conducted, with a year-to-date total of $27,611.
The full-year forecast is 78% attained, where as last year we had obtained
62% of our goal by this point in time. Most impressive is the amount of money
collected through the Direct Appeal, which is currently $10,092 vs. $8,000
for the full year last year. Net Income is $33,965, which is 73% attained.
There are some outstanding bills that need to be paid for the Monster Mash.
The teachers were given their gifts and were extremely grateful.
Co-President’s Report
Box Tops For Education has raised $391 so far, with a full year goal of $5,000.
Each family is asked to bring in 10 tops per month. The Student Council will
decide how the money is spent. The next contest deadline is January 4, 2007.
Please remember to logon on Amazon.com through the link on the PTO website
so Nixon will receive 4-6% of your total purchases. The Geography Expedition
will start in mid-January and run until mid-February. There will be a PTO
table at upcoming events where PTO representatives can sell DVD/yearbooks,
dismissal pads, recruit volunteers, etc. Sudburyopoly was developed by the
Noyes PTO and is being sold as a Nixon fundraiser. The new and improved Bylaws
will be available for review soon. There will be an ILAP presentation on December
18 at 7:00 pm at Nixon. This presentation will be given other nights at each
of the elementary schools and at Curtis.
The Chess Club has requested funding for 20 chess sets and score pads to get the club up and running. The request is approximately $200. This was voted on and approved.
Yearbook/Slideshow
The PTO has always given a copy of the DVD to each teacher as a gift
at the end of the year, where the room parents have often given a copy of
the yearbook to each teacher. Now that the DVD and yearbook will be bundled,
it was discussed how to handle the gift-giving. It was suggested that the
room parents be offered a discount if they purchase both items as a year-end
gift for the teacher. Please send in any pictures you may have.
Library
The new vendor, BookFairs by BookEnds was a huge success. People
seemed very happy about the selection and quality of the fair. Revenue was
$17,300, which was almost 28% above last year. Nixon kept about 25% as profit.
Community Service
The Cradles to Crayons drive was very successful. Thank you to all
who donated to help children less fortunate.
Family Curriculum Night
“The Great Nixon Math Mystery” - the focus this year
will be on Math and will be roughly based on the game “Clue”.
The children will solve math problems to earn clues which will be used to
solve the mystery. It is planned for February 8 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
