General John Nixon Elementary School
PTO Meeting Minutes
June 15, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 9:30 am.
21 people signed the attendance sheet.

Treasurer’s Report
All of the major fundraising activities for the year have been conducted, with a year-to-date total of $29,340. The forecast for the full-year is 85% attained. Net Income is at $41,730, which is 95% of the full-year goal. The YTD Operating Profit is $188, which is $17,902 over the budget. This number will continue to change, as we are still expecting revenue from the General John’s March and the Barnes & Noble Fundraiser.

Co-Chair Report
Tracie was not at the meeting due to a family emergency. The PTO Bylaws will be discussed in September, when she can be there. The 2006-2007 co-chairs were announced and approved. There are still open positions in aesthetics, craft connection, fundraising, METCO, and nominations. Please get in your budget request forms for next year.

District Directory
Even though there was very positive feedback regarding the directory, it will not be published next year, as no one has stepped forward to head up the project. Margaret Chunias is working with the other schools to get all of their databases in the same format, which would make it much easier to publish the directory. The town is looking into purchasing I-Parent software so that there could be a district wide database housed at the district level. Each school currently manages all the information for their own school.

Website
Everyone seems to be happy with the new website layout.

5th Grade Events
There will be a 5th grade party on June 22 in the cafeteria. Debbie Murray is collecting money from 4th grade parents for the Wings of Wisdom breakfast.

Rita’s Retirement
There will be a retirement party for Rita on Wednesday, June 21 at 3:30 and a watercolor painting will be given to her. At school meeting this week, it will be announced that the stage is being dedicated to Rita.

9:55 meeting adjourned
