PTO Meeting Minutes

Treasurer’s Report
- Total YTD fundraising is $95,556
- Auction still not final
- Please submit all reimbursements by June 19th
Co-President’s Report
- School Picnic: Still need more volunteers
- Wings of Wisdom: Still need more volunteers
- PTO Dinner: Great night; approx 30 people attended
- PTO Committee Co-chair openings: See list posted on website
- PTO Shed/Closets: Need to clean-out!
- First Grade Volunteers: Lauren Hochberg spoke about organizing more volunteers for classrooms due to the cut in assistants, especially in Kindergarten and first grade. Teachers to assess their needs before we proceed.
- Parent Survey: New parent survey via web; please respond
- Voting in new co-chairs: New co-President Ellen Joachim and new co-treasurer Anna NiCastro. Voted and approved
- Parking lot: Ms. Jay asked for big rocks to be place in front of parking spaces to eliminate cars from cutting through the grass area
Committee Reports
- Yearbook/DVD: Sending e-mail to all room parents to pick-up DVDs. Gifted five copies: (1) Curtis 6th grade admin staff (2) Dr. Brackett (3) Ms. Jay (4) Nixon Front office (Erin) (5) PTO archive
- Food Pantry: Mr. Manuel requested info for next year to introduce to 2nd grade as they will be responsible for it in 3rd grade; Goal 9 – 10,000 items. We discussed whether or not to continue our focus on hunger for community service. Our collection results were up 68% over last year, totaling about 8,300 items. We will continue the focus for next year and look to expand our influence to include curriculum-linked classroom activities for all grades, especially 3rd grade. Committee has met with Joni Jay and third grade teachers to begin planning for next year.
- Spring Book Fair
- Hospitality: Thank you from Joni Jay and Nixon staff
- Bingo Night: Big success again – thanks to the committee

- School Picnic: Need ingredients and a reminder to parents to not send lunch June 10th. Suggest scanning ingredient lists and posting on web next year?
