Another family favorite is Bingo Night!  Families gather to play several games of Bingo while participating in our teacher’s raffle.  We are seeking three people.

CRAFT CONNECTION

3 Positions

(Kindergarten and Third Grade)

This committee supports Grades K-3 in completing craft projects to enhance their learning of the curriculum (i.e. Kindergarten Gingerbread Puppets).  It needs grade level coordinators for Kindergarten to assist with the projects.

COMPUTER/WEBSITE

2 Positions

This committee runs the Nixon Gazette website providing updates on a weekly basis.  The roles allow for some flexibility to help out on your own schedule and without a need to show up at Nixon in person (perfect for working Dads or Moms).  Some experience with HTML is useful, but not required to work on this committee.  We already have four people chairing this committee and are seeking two additional people.

DIRECTORY

1 Position

This committee manages the collection of family contact information via internet updates and publishes the Nixon Directory prior to Back to School Night in the fall.

GARDENING

2 Positions

 Use your green thumb on this committee as you keep Nixon’s grounds looking beautiful.  This committee provides plants and seasonal decorations to beautify the front entrance of Nixon School.

HOSPITALITY

1 Position

 This committee provides food and refreshments for the PTO meetings, Principal’s Coffees and other special meetings as needed.  It also sponsors the annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon in May to celebrate the wonderful teachers at Nixon.  We already have three people chairing this event and are seeking one additional person

NOMINATIONS

5 Positions (one year only)

This committee will be comprised of grade level representatives (Kindergarten thru 4th grade) who will help nominate parents for our various open PTO positions.  It is our hope that by involving more parents in the process of filling committee positions, we can increase the number of parents who participate in the PTO as a whole.  Opening exists for all 5 grades.

PHOTO COORDINATOR

1 Position (one year only)

This committee is responsible for our Fall Family Photo Day in addition to acting as the liaison with Coffee Pond for our school photos.  They will assist photographers & teachers on picture day and help coordinate volunteers.

YEARBOOK

2 positions (one year only)

This committee captures and collects photographic memories throughout the school year and with the help of 5th grade students compiles them into a full color yearbook for sale at the end of the school year.  You will also work with the DVD committee in the collection of photos. 

DVD SLIDESHOW

1 position

This committee also captures and collects photographic memories throughout the school year.  They then put these photos into a musical montage called the DVD Slideshow which is shown in a special school meeting at the end of the school year.  It is more inclusive than the yearbook because its final production date is later in the year thereby allowing us to include photos from the Kindergarten Chicken Festival and 4th Grade Odyssey.  You will also work with the Yearbook committee in the collection of photos.  We already have one person chairing this committee and are seeking one additional person.
