Ground Rules
  • The goal of the Science Fair is to encourage and promote a joy of science, exploration and discovery.
  • All students (K-5) are invited to participate, but participation is voluntary.
  • You must register in advance (by March 10th) to participate.
  • NEW RULE: You need to determine your topic before registering.
  • You can work in teams of 2-3 students.
  • Projects should be age/grade appropriate, ie. 5th grade projects should be considerably more complex than Kindergarten projects.
  • Keep it kid centered
    Kids — select your topic of exploration, design your experiment, and perform your experiment on your own as much as possible.
  • Keep it simple and inexpensive.
  • Don’t wait until the last minute! A successful project requires some careful thought and planning. Give yourself time to do it right.
  • No animals.
  • No household chemicals (bleach, ammonia, etc.)
  • Follow the Project Guidelines to design your experiment and prepare your presentation.
  • Most of all .... keep it FUN and SAFE!
Registration

This year, registration will be done online. Simply click on REGISTRATION at the Science Fair website homepage, complete the form, and click Submit.

  • You must register in advance to participate.
  • You must select your topic before registering.
  • No registrations will be accepted after the deadline (March 10th).
  • Only one form is required per project, just be sure to include information for each team member on the registration form.

Don’t forget to look for your name on the bulletin board!!

Fair Night

Setup: Students will have the opportunity to setup their experiments and presentations from 6:00 – 6:30 on Fair Night. Consult the maps in the front hallway to determine your location.

Scientists: During the fair, all students will be visited by a ‘Scientist’ to give each child an opportunity to present his/her work. The Scientist will present each child with a participation award.

Book Sale: An Usborne Book representative will be displaying and selling all sorts of fun science related books in the Cafeteria.

Bake Sale: Lots of goodies and drinks will be available at the Science Fair Bake Sale, in the Cafeteria. No food or drink is allowed to leave the Cafeteria.

Science Trivia & Slide Show: Don’t forget to participate in the Science Trivia game and watch the great Slide Show, in the Cafeteria at 8:00pm.
