As I noted at back to school night, we are continuing to refine and improve our School Meeting.  One important change for you to be aware of this year is our practice of maintaining silence upon entering, throughout, and when leaving.  The staff has spent considerable time discussing the tone we wish from school meeting and we have unanimously agreed on this practice, which was the tradition at Nixon for many years.  We ask that parents support our respectful atmosphere by refraining from conversation once entering the cafeteria.

We have also asked children to show their appreciation only through clapping (e.g. no hooting or whistling).  You will also notice some new aspects to school meeting, including singing to birthday students each month and including more group singing.

Thank you!
