The 2011-12 school year is here!  A warm welcome to our new Nixon families and welcome back to those returning.  We hope you all had a fun and relaxing summer break. 

 

While it is hard to believe that the summer passed so quickly, the feeling of a fresh, new start is exciting.  I am personally excited to work along side my new Co-chair, Joyce Minkoff.  She brings many great ideas to the table and a strong commitment to our school.  We have already started our planning for what will surely be another amazing year at Nixon.  It will be a year full of wonderful enrichment opportunities for our children.   We will see the return of some of our favorite events such as Monster Mash, Bingo Night, Science Fair, and Movie Night, and also a few surprises!

 

This past June we approved our budget for the coming year, ensuring the same level of educational enrichment for all our students.  Recent technology investments will further enhance their classroom experience.  We look forward to discussing all this in more detail at Back-to-School Night on September 22nd and at our first PTO meeting on October 13th.  

 

Many of our committees are just getting organized and will post information, dates and sign-ups in the coming weeks.  We do still have some open positions so if you would like more information, please contact Maria (mariaexbeh@aol.com) or Joyce (jminkoff@msn.com).  The PTO needs the help of ALL parents.  Big or small, any contribution is welcome…whether volunteering at an event, donating for a Bake Sale, or contributing to our Direct Appeal.  We challenge all of you to get involved in some way.  We can’t do it without you!
