Welcome to third grade! The new school year is upon us, and your children are already buzzing about the classroom - personalizing their writing journals, sharing stories from their summer vacations, composing a classroom contract of rules we decided upon together...we're busy right from the start! It's already beginning to feel like a very special community here in room 5. This newsletter will be sent to you monthly so that we can share all of our third grade experiences with you. |

Our class is very fortunate to have our very own ActiveBoard that we will use in lessons across the curriculum. The students are already using it daily to make a line plot of their lunch count orders – allowing us to talk about important graphing language in an authentic way. We can't wait to show it to you at Back to School night! Our class theme for the year is “Random Acts of Kindness”. The kids have already brainstormed about good deeds we can do for each other in school, and we'll be recording the good deeds we see each other perform by hanging tags on our classroom Giving Tree. Thank you for your efforts in providing a trash-free snack for your child! |

Reading tip of the Month
Read me a story! Whether snuggled under the covers with milk and cookies, or following along with a book on tape while on a road trip, reading together is a powerful tool in motivating your child to read.
