Hello Families,
This week...
During Math, we started Unit 3: Patterns and Functions. The students' focus was on determining what is a pattern, what comes next in a pattern and copying repeating patterns. One activity was taking an observation walk. The students and I walked around the room and school to observe patterns all around us. Try it at home!
During Guided Reading, the focus was on high frequency words, initial letter sounds, blending sounds and how punctuation can affect a reader's voice.
During Fundations, I introduced the letters O and G.
We read the P-U-R-P-L-E song.
We met with our book buddies.
During Science, we discussed the life cycle of a pumpkin, as well as, looked inside of our classroom pumpkin. We will use this classroom pumpkin to journal about its life cycle in our class. We read many pumpkin books!
I introduced many new words to the word wall. Ask you children if they remember any of our words and how we introduce words in our class.
During Handwriting, the students focused on the uppercase formation of O and G.
Next week...
The Halloween Parade will be on Friday, October 30th at 9:15. We will parade in our costumes around the building. We ask that all parents please stay by the front office where we will slow down for pictures. Please send your child to school dressed in regular clothes and pack their costumes either in their backpacks or in a separate bag. PLEASE label it anyway you can. We might have more than one Darth Vader and Pokemon!
The Halloween Party will be the same day at 2:00pm. Any questions about the party, please contact our room parents.
Want Ads... I am looking for any of the following items: milk caps catalogs (appropriate for Kindergartners to cut up) buttons
Have a wonderful Fall weekend!
